On occasion, you must provide some personally identifiable information in order to use a portion of our website. Passive data collection and use

Like most websites, the Company also collects and logs information automatically and through the use of electronic tools that may be transparent to you, such as your IP address, the name and location of your ISP, the type and version of your browser, the length of time that you stay on our websites, search queries, and the average number of pages viewed. To better provide our services to you and to develop profiles that enable us to tailor services and its products to your interests, we may correlate this information with other information about you. We may provide to third parties anonymous aggregated (non-personally identifiable) general information about our website and its users.

You can turn the cookies feature off by using your browser preference options.

Some of our third-party content providers also may place a cookie on your computer. Those cookies are controlled by the content provider, and you should refer to that provider’s privacy policy for further information regarding its use of cookies and about your options not to accept them.

We recommend that you read the privacy policy of each and every website you visit or with which you interact.

We do not request or accept personal information concerning or supplied by persons who are located within the EEA at the time they access this Site. Advice Requests

Direct Answers is a newspaper column written by Wayne and Tamara Mitchell. In submitting a letter or email, you should be aware that names are always changed if the letter or email is published in any form, whether print, online or by any other means. Letters and email are edited to conform to newspaper style and for space. In addition, other identifying information may be changed. For example, a plumber might be said to be a carpenter, or a woman with three children may be said to have two or four children.

We never publish letters or email where the writer says, “Do not publish or post my letter,” or words to that effect. However, including that request reduces the chance the letter or email will be answered. The reason you are able to write Direct Answers is because other letter writers allowed their letter to be used. If every letter writer restricted use of their letter or email, there would be no newspaper column, no website, and no answers.

All information gathered on this website is stored within a database to which only we and our hosting services provider are provided access. However, as effective as the reasonable security measures implemented by us may be, no physical or electronic security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of our website’s servers or databases, nor can we guarantee that information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the Internet.

Terms of Service

We reserve the right to change these Terms of Service from time to time. By continuing to use this website after we post any such changes, you accept the Terms of Service as modified.

When you submit a letter or email, you grant us, and anyone authorized by us, a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, unrestricted, worldwide license to use, copy, modify, transmit, sell, exploit, create derivative works from, distribute, and/or publicly perform or display such material, in whole or in part, in any manner or medium (whether now known or hereafter developed), for any purpose that we choose. The foregoing grant includes the right to exploit any proprietary rights in such letter or email, including, but not limited to, rights under copyright, trademark and other laws that exist in any relevant jurisdiction. You will not receive any compensation of any kind for the use of any letter or email you submit.
